The stiff, lightweight Threshold A1 delivers podium-seeking cyclocross speed and will have you wondering how one hour can take so long, but hurt so good.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the rugged landscape and abundant precipitation of Canada’s Pacific Coast is the ultimate place to develop and perfect an aluminum cyclocross bike. It helped us engineer the Threshold A1’s aluminum frame and carbon fork with ample mud clearance, size-scaled tubing, ovalized seatstays, and bent chainstays to dissipate shock and maximize CX performance.
The Threshold A1 features a Shimano GRX wide-range 11-speed drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes with internally routed cables, so they won’t get clogged with mud after a lap in the sticky mud and snow. Shimano thru-axle hubs are laced to WTB KOM Light i21 TCS Tubeless Ready rims, which support fast, sturdy Schwalbe X-One 33mm knobby tires.
A 2020 Norco Threshold A1 is typically priced around $1,799 USD when new. Be sure to shop around for the best price, and also look to the used market for a great deal.
